Sterilizing Tunnel is one of the most widely used sterilizers in Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Food,
Petrochemical industry etc. Sterilizing tunnel is used for dry heat sterilization and depyrogenation of containers, bottles, ampoules, vials and other glass products etc. It is so called because the machine has a tunnel like region where the entire process of sterilization is done.
Sterilizing Tunnel Zones
The tunnel of each machine is divided into 3 areas:
- An inlet zone
- A sterilization zone, and
- A cooling zone.
Sterilization Process in Sterilizing Tunnels
The pharmaceutical containers are sent to the inlet zone or tunnel through a conveyor belt. In the sterilization zone, sterilization of the containers are taken place with the help of heated air flow, which is generated by means of a fan and a heater. Laminar air flow is used to sterilize glass vials/ampoules and bottles. The air flow can be controlled by adapting the rpm of the fan during the heating phase. An emptying device that can be raised and lowered is provided in the cooling zone. In order to empty the sterilization tunnel, the emptying device is lowered onto the conveyor belt and the sterilized pharmaceutical products are disposed on the conveyor belt, out from the sterilization tunnel. The emptying device allows a simple operation of the sterilization tunnel.
Advantages of Sterilizing Tunnel
- It works without using any additional air speed measuring instruments.
- It is sufficiently precise.
- The filter elements function optimally
