Bottle inspection machines are one of the most widely used inspection machines in the pharmaceutical industry for maintaining high standards of quality. Besides being used in the pharma industry, this machine is also used by a number of other industries for inspecting bottles that are broken, spotty, cracked and bottles which are not upto the set standards.
The manuafcturing process of glass bottles and containers produces defects, which can be dangerous for the final consumer. These defects have to be detected at an early stage and it is here that the glass bottle inspection machines are used in detecting glass faults.
Working of Bottle Inspection Machines
In the bottle inspection machine a conveyor belt is there, where the bottles which are to be inspected are put manually. These bottles are then transferred with the help of the belt on to the inspection chamber. The inspection chamber is equipped with cameras and other electronic components for complete and proper inspection of the bottles. These machines are equipped with an inbuilt rejection system, which removes the bottles not conforming to the preset standards from the conveyor belt.
Defect Inspections in Pharmaceutical Bottles
- Body Defects and Shoulder Defects: blister, inclusion in the corner, tear in engraving, stuck glass in engraving
- Base Defects: tear near baffle mark, blister in the stippling, inclusion in orientation mark
- Finish Defects: external scaly finish, complete overpressed, partial overpressed
Features of Bottle Inspection Machines
- There are advanced designed bottle inspection machines that have other added features like
- Empty and filled bottle check
- They have a full 3-D scan of the bottle for dimensional integrity as well like height, lean, tilt, thread, body dimension etc.
- The output of these machines is very high.
Applications of Bottle Inspection Machines
- Pharmaceuticals
- Cosmetics
- Chemicals
