Pharmaceutical Granulators

Pharmaceutical granulators are used for producing a uniform dense granules . They are universally accepted within the pharmaceutical industry for wet granulation and dry mixing of particles/ingredients. Granulators ensure fast, efficient and uniform mixing or granulation of raw material/particles. Over sized granules are broken down into a uniform size to ensure better blending.

 

There are a few kinds of granulators depending on the application and the end result of the product needed. Spray granulators are used for rapidly drying suspensions and solutions for free-flowing granules. To manufacture various size pellets, spheroidizers or pelletizers are used. For precision particle size reduction, comminuting machines are used in the pharmaceutical industry.

 

Dry granulation and wet granulation are effective methods adopted by pharmaceutical granulators for achieving excellent mixing and consistent granules. They are extremely efficient and quick mixers of dry and wet powders. The uniformed sized granules when formed are dried in either an oven or a fluid bed dryer machine. They are used for process applications requiring rigorous final product uniformity, particle size, and moisture content. The granulators besides being used in the pharmaceutical industry are also used in the food, agricultural and chemical, nutritional and powdered metal industries.
