Commode Wheelchair

A shower or commode wheelchair addresses the personal hygienic need of people with spinal cord injuries and other individuals with disabilities. It is designed to maximize patient independence and reduce caregiver strain. The wheels of the chair allow the caregiver to transfer the patient in and out of the tub or shower with less effort. Most patients require a special commode wheelchair for personal hygiene. A commode wheelchair enables an invalid patient to respond to his nature's call easily. With the commode wheelchair that has commode and shower all in one, there is no need to remove the patient. The commode shower wheelchair fits over most standard and elongated toilets.

 

These commode shower wheelchairs are commonly used in the nursing centers, departments of physical medicine and rehabilitation in hospitals and homes.

Product Description

  • Usually the seat of a commode shower wheelchair contain a commode opening cut-out so that the chair can be used both over a toilet and in the shower. Some models come with a center piece to fill the cut-out on the seat. Such a design offers the patient higher level of comfort during long term seating so that the commode shower wheelchair can be also used as a regular wheelchair.
  • Such a chair is usually built of rust-free materials such as PVC, Aluminum or Stainless Steel.
  • The frame of the commode wheelchair can be powder coated which are of various types like epoxy coating, polyester coating, nylon coating etc.
  • The seat and back of the commode wheelchair come with upholstered top which can be removed and washed.
  • The arm rests of the shower or commode wheelchair are fixed or removable.
  • Elevated or swing away footrest in commode wheelchair.
  • Wheel locks or brakes are available in several different designs in commode wheelchair, and can be mounted at various heights to maximize convenience to the user.
  • Height is adjustable in commode wheelchairs.
