bed. A general ward is a common room in a hospital where patients suffering from different diseases are admitted.
A general ward is usually the most widely used and busiest area of the hospital as it remains occupied all the time. The general ward is open to all patients, specially the common people where the treatment is provided. The ward bed is very simple in design. The hospital ward bed is made of various materials. The general ward bed can be painted or powder coated which are of various types like epoxy, polyester, nylon, acrylic coating etc. Most medical ward beds are plain, general beds without any special features like those that are available in a fowler bed or an electric hospital bed.
However in some of the modern healthcare units, there are some general ward beds that can be manually adjusted. These beds come in two sections. The upper portion can be adjusted up and down with a crank at the foot end to enable the patient to sit and eat or lie in a comfortable position. The medical ward bed surface can come with a fixed mattress or the bed surface is perforated sheet top or wire mesh. These bed panels have bars or back rest. Some hospital ward beds have tubular metal framework with wooden headboard and leg board.
