Materials

Features
Whether it is wood or metal, the surfaces should be free of splinters, cracks and be painted with lead-free paint. This will prevent baby from suffering from lead poisoning if he has the tendency to bite or lick the cut surface when he is teething. The cots for babies have bars on all sides and the space between them should not be too large. Cot slats should be between 5 and 7 cm so as to prevent baby's head from being trapped between slats. There are drop side railings. But, the cot sides should be secured when put up. Foam safety mattress, quilt and bumper set - included in some cots. The mattress should fit snugly so that baby cannot get his arm, leg or even his head trapped by the sides . Rolling casters to move the cot easily. The depth of a cot must be a minimum of 60 cm to prevent baby from toppling over when standing.
