The Right Choice For Pharmaceutical Conveyor System
The common requirement of conveyors in pharmaceutical packaging environments is to transport containers, or packaging units, through process steps. There are many specific factors to look for when evaluating and selecting conveyors for pharmaceutical packaging operations. The “ideal” conveyor system should have the following attribtes.
-
Modularity. Go for modularity. Select conveyors that have pre-engineered modules and components like guide rail structures, and motor and drive systems, turns, that can be combined for customized layout and function. The ideal system will require minimal time for assembly and integration. This reduces labor requirements and implementation costs for new production lines or renovation of existing lines.
-
Flexibility. Choose conveyor systems that can easily and quickly accommodate different packaging container sizes, and formats. The ideal system should incorporate quick-adjust and positive-positioning elements to ensure both speed and repeatability of changeover. It should offer a full range of transport media to handle the wide possible range of packaging content and specific transport tasks. The conveyor should also be easy to assemble and disassemble, thus helping inspection, cleaning, and maintenance.
-
Size/Configuration. Choose a conveyor that allows you to maximize floor space and optimize labor productivity. The system should be compact so that it occupies less space and keep upstream and downstream packaging equipment running during brief stoppages of other equipment. There should be flexible mounting options to ensure the perfect functional and spatial fit with your production environment.
-
Adaptability. Make adaptability the base of your overall packaging operations strategy. Select conveyors that can be configured and reconfigured easily, quickly. There should not be any need for costly engineering intervention and equipment disposal. This will improve your responsiveness and time-to-market cycles. It will also lower total cost of ownership.
-
Scalability. If you as a buyer is new to packaging line automation, select a conveyor that helps in rapid production scale-up. The ideal conveyor system will be modular and flexible to handle custom applications. It should also accommodate an extensive range of product and packaging types. Adaptability, too, is an essential requirement in scalability.
