Step-by-step Instructions for Making Cardboard Picture Frame
Kids craft cardboard picture frame making is a really simple task, just follow the below mentioned steps to make a decorative picture frame!
  • Measure the photograph that you wish to frame. Add to this measurement about 2-1/2 to 3 inches around each dimension. This will give you the width of the edges of your cardboard photo frame.
  • Now cut out two pieces of cardboard according to the dimensions calculated by you.
  • With the help of ruler and pencil, mark out a square or rectangle- as per the shape of your picture- in the center of one of the cardboard pieces. Keep the dimensions of this shape about 1/4 inch lesser than the size of your picture.
  • Now using a craft knife, cut out the drawn shape from the cardboard.
  • Place the cut out piece of cardboard on a flat surface and decorate its one side with all the craft supplies you have gathered. You can use your imagination and decorate your craft cardboard picture frames with anything like markers, stamps, paint, crayons, glitter etc.
  • Let the glue or paint that you have used for decorating your cardboard picture frame dry thoroughly before you move towards the next step.
  • Place the decorated cardboard piece facedown and using the ruler and pencil, mark three lines around the cutout window - one on each side and one along the bottom. Each line should be 1/4 inch from the window.
  • Now put a thin line of glue just outside (away from the window) of the pencil lines and along the side and bottom edges of the cardboard. You can even use a glue stick for the purpose as it makes the task cleaner and easier.
  • Place the remaining piece of cardboard on top of the first. Ensure that the edges line up evenly. Press the two pieces together. Wipe away any excess glue and let the pieces dry thoroughly. You can make a small loop of the satin ribbon and attach it at the back of your cardboard picture frame with the help of tape or glue. This will act as hanger. Alternatively, use magnet strips so that you can stick the cardboard picture frame to your personal cupboard or refrigerator. Insert the photo into the cardboard frame through the top.

Your decorated cardboard picture frame is ready to be shown to your crafts teacher and friends!
