How to Repair Marble Table Cracks

Decorative furniture like marble tables are always dear to people who own them. Sometimes the marble table tops can crack for some or the other reasons like shifting etc. So, what to do? Materials Needed for Marble Table Repair

Get the following things to repair marble table

Acetone
Soft cloths or chamois
Epoxy adhesive (two part)
Coloring agent (optional)
Small mixing container (optional)
Single edge razor blades
Small paint brush/stick
Wet-or-dry sandpaper (grades 120, 320, and 1000)

DIY Steps for Marble Table Repair

These are the steps that you must follow to repair marble tables for cracks.

Clean the cracked area on the marble table top with the soft cloth and acetone. Let the furniture dry completely.
If you have chosen to use a tint or marble dust, add the coloring agent with sufficient epoxy glue so as to fill the crack. Ensure to mix a small amount of tint at a time. Check the color to match tour marble table top. Add more tint if required to get exact or nearly the same color.
Now fill the crack on marble table with epoxy glue with the help of a small paintbrush or anything that can perform the job. Fill the crack completely and also try to get as little of adhesive as you can on the surface of the marble table top.
When the epoxy thickens or converts into gel, take the razor blade to scrape away epoxy that you can see onto the marble table surface. When you scrape the thing, take care not to scratch the marble table.
Now let the epoxy cure on it. It will almost take a day or more to get hardened.
After the adhesive on marble table gets cured within a day or two, sand over the crack and the epoxy with the help of 120-grade sandpaper. Sand it until the epoxy is worn down. Feel the smooth surface after sanding. If you feel there is any raised epoxy, sand it some more. However, don't over sand your marble table with this grade of sandpaper.
Now its time to polish the marble table but before that, you have to conduct some more sanding with 320-grade sandpaper to get a smoother surface.
Finish sanding marble table with 1000-grade sandpaper. Polish it till the surface of the crack matches the texture and shine of your marble table.
The same technique can be used to repair marble table bases too if they develop cracks in them.
