You must also be wanting to frame this wide picture for realizing its true beauty but again find yourself thinking how to frame a panoramic photo? Panoramic photos are a bit different from the standard sized pictures and need a wide picture frame but they can be easily printed and framed in panoramic picture frames if you use the right material and technique. This article will give you certain tips on how to print and frame panoramic photos?
How to Print Panoramic Pictures with Inkjet Printers?
You will need no expensive specialized printers to print your panoramic pictures. You can use your color inkjet printer to print panoramic photos. For this, you can cut the picture in half (using Adobe Photoshop, JASC PaintShop Pro, GIMP and similar image editing softwares) and print each half as large as possible. However, this will need a little more effort to align the two prints accurately without showing the joining point in the picture. It will become much easier if you use a panoramic image printing software for the purpose.
Some panoramic picture softwares like 'Panorama Maker 5 Pro' allow excellent photo stitch for stitching photos together. It has auto stitch engine that automatically analyzes and selects other photos which matches them, organizes them in the right order and "stitch" them with just a click. You can even use some simple image management software like cPicture2 that includes panoramic image printing. cPicture automatically cuts picture in suitable size sections which can then be printed using any image tool. Another software PanoPrinter3 is specifically used for printing panoramic photos. Along with various adjustments to the pictures and special effects, it can print the image across multiple pages while adding crop marks, page numbers etc. This makes it easy to cut and glue the pages together to create one wide print out.
Use Appropriate Papers to Print Panoramic Photos
To print panoramic pictures, you can easily find special coated papers available for the type of printer you are using. Some famous brands of inkjet printers like Epson and HP generally include a few samples of different specialist papers with the printer when you buy it. You can always try these to see which of them are of right quality to print panoramic photos. You must check the paper quality on some parameters as mentioned here. Check the paper opacity or the degree to which the paper is transparent. High opacity is better for most applications including printing panoramic pictures. Also check the paper ISO brightness or the degree to which the paper is pure white before printing. High brightness is better as the colors that come out will be more vibrant in your panoramic photo. For getting high quality of printed panoramic photo, always try to use papers from reputable manufactures recommended by the printer manufacturers as they test all of them before recommending them to you.
Match Colors to Print Panoramic Photos
It sometimes happen that when you print panoramic pictures, you see a difference in color from what you see on screen (of computer or digital frames.) You can match colors by using softwares for color matching like Colorific which has some graphics cards and computer systems. If you print panoramic pictures with inkjet printers, you might get photos that tend to fade quickly as compared to photographs printed with more sophisticated printers. So, always, store your pictures in a cool dry atmosphere and avoid excessive sunlight. While buying panoramic picture frame for such photo, get the one which has a picture glass that filters UV light to protect your panoramic picture. You may, however, re-print a digital picture and get a fresh look of your panoramic picture in the frame.
How to Frame Panoramic Photos?
After printing panoramic pictures, you must also frame it the right way for getting its true beauty. You can always get custom frames of the required size but they are very costly if you get them mat. Instead, you can get a standard size panoramic picture frame corresponding to the size of your picture. If your picture is much wider, for example a 360 degree landscape, you can split it up into multiple photos like 2 or 3 pictures and get it framed. If you want to have cheap panoramic picture frame then instead of wood frame, go for a metal frame, no mat, and acylite glazing though be careful with the glazing as it scratches easily.
