Bayonets are the pointed instruments of the dagger kind fitted on the muzzle of a musket or rifle, so as to give the soldier increased means of offense and defense. It is generally a blade adapted to fit the muzzle end of a rifle and used as a weapon in close combat. Originally, the bayonet was made with a handle that required to be fitted into the bore of the musket after the soldier had fired. The German bayonets were considerably used during both World War I & II.

The bayonets are available in a number of variations, the basic model comprising of: wood grips, held on by two flush screw/nut sets; short crossguard, no muzzle-ring; steel pommel with push-button/internal-spring latch arrangement. The blades of the bayonet are single-edged, single-fullered (both sides), saw on back-edge and the ricasso is usually marked with the manufacturer's trademark. The scabbards are either of sheet-rolled steel, blued, with ball-finial or occasionally made of steel mounts on black leather.
