Resistance Welding Machine
Seam welding machine is primarily used for seam welding process. Seam welding process is an alternative of resistance spot welding. This type of welding process is ideal for producing leak tight and continuous joints in sheet metals.
Salient Features
The important features of the seam welding machines are:
-
In these machines, the electrodes are wheels.
-
The machine is provided with high precision digital pushbutton switch and accessory IC control circuits.
-
There is a transformer attached to the machine.
-
Supplied with cooling tubes that applies compulsory cooling cycle circuits.
-
The machine has a sturdy solid frame and ensures stable welding quality.
Working Principle
The seam welding process involves making a series of overlapping spot welds by rotating copper alloy wheel electrodes to form a continuous leak tight joint. A constant force is applied to the workpieces by the electrode wheels at a defined speed. Generally, the welding current is driven to give an array of distinct spots. The welding machine is usually fixed and the components being welded are manipulated between the wheels.

Uses & Applications
The seam welding machine is used in various fields for following purposes:
-
Welding sheet metals
-
Making watertight joints for vehicle fuel tanks
-
Making flange welds
-
Welding domestic radiators
-
Welding tin cans & drums
