The machine is widely used for linear friction welding process. The welding process is frequently used in aerospace industry. The process is used frequently because of the fact that it helps to join difficult to bond materials. Actually, it is a non-melting fusion process that yields high integrity welds and requires minimum prior surface preparation.

Welding Process
The process involves forcing the parts to be joined into a close contact. This results in a fully reversed motion being imposed on part of the system. This is followed by the production of frictional heat in the adjacent region of the welding surface. This heat causes softening of a fixed volume of material.

Generally, linear friction welding can be divided into following categories:

A dry friction stage
An increased asperity contact
Certain steady state once the relatively high weld temperature has been achieved
