Submerged Arc Welding Machine

The machine is used in Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) processes. It is a popular arc welding process. Generally, the machine can operate on both automatic or mechanized modes. However, semi-automatic SAW guns with pressurized or gravity flux feed delivery are also used.

Working Principle
The machine needs a constantly fed consumable solid or tubular metal electrode. There is a provision for preventing the molten weld metal and the welding area from contamination by keeping them submerged underneath a cover of granular flux. Once, the metal is melted, the flux becomes electrically conductive and creates a current path between the electrode and the workpiece.
