Among all the processes, Injection molding is a very flexible process for producing a vast range of simple or complex plastic parts. This is done with the help of injection molding machine. Injection molding is carried out by injecting melted plastic into a mold. Most thermoplastics can be processed by Injection Molding.

Salient Features

The Plastic injection molding machine consists of two parts: the injection unit that melts the plastic and injects the plastic into the mold; and the clamping unit that holds the mold.
The injection molding unit clamps the mold in a closed position during injection, opens the mold after cooling, and discharges the finished part.
The machine also consists of a heated barrel provided with a reciprocating screw, which is driven by a hydraulic or electric motor.
The screw feeds the molten plastic material or polymer into a temperature controlled split mould through a channel system consisting of gates and runners.
The material is introduced into the injection molding machine through a Hopper.
Different types of tools used in the injection molding machine are made from steels and aluminium alloys.
