An impact test or crash test is a type of destructive testing commonly performed to assure safe design standards for automobiles or related components. An impact tester or crash tester is an equipment, which is used to evaluate the aftermath of loose cargo impacts during motor vehicle collisions, and the energy absorption properties of rubber materials.
There are several types of impact tests conducted on vehicles, which includes:

Frontal-Impact Tests: This generally include impacts on a solid concrete wall at a specified speed or vehicle tests.

Offset Tests: In this case, only a part of the front of the car have an impacts with another vehicle or barrier.

Side-Impact Tests: These test are used to test the impact of side collision between two vehicles. They are deadliest types of accidents. In this case, vehicles don't have a considerable collapsing area in order to absorb the impact forces.

Roll-over Tests: This includes testing a car's ability to support itself in a dynamic impact.
