Crockmeter is an equipment widely used in the textile industry to test colour fastness of textiles particularly, printer fabrics to dry or wet rubbing. The primary function of the crockmeter is to examine colorfastness of fabrics to crocking, that is, the rubbing off of dyes from a fabric surface onto another surface.

Salient Features
  • The equipment consists of a digital counter and motor.
  • Provided with a flat peg.
  • Also consists of an operating handle.

Working Principle
The test involves mounting the dyed or printed fabric on a lower platform and then rubbing 10 cycles with a white fabric, which is mounted on a peg in the upper rubbing arm. The next step involves determining the extent of color that rubs away onto the white fabric against a color transference scale. The rubbing action of the peg+ enabled fibers from the upper colored flannel fabric surface to be transferred onto the white backing fabric mounted on the lower platform.

Applications
Some of the areas where crockmeter finds application are:
  • Textile Industry
  • Plastic Industry
  • Leather Industry
  • Fabrics Industry
