Continuity Tester

Continuity tester is an electrical test equipment used to examine whether current flows between two points or whether an electrical path can be established between two test leads.

The tester comprises of an indicator that is connected in series with a source of electrical power, usually a battery terminating in two test points. The indicator is activated when a complete circuit is established between the two test-leads.

Salient Features

• The indicator in the tester may be an electric light and it can also be fitted with a buzzer.
• A typical design of the device consists of the tester combined with a standard flashlight.
• Provided with a connector or jack plug in the back of the tester, which permits a set of test leads to be plugged in resulting in a quick conversion between the two applications.
• In case of testing of high resistance circuits, low voltage and low current devices are used.
