Overwrapping machine wraps a product or a batch in flexible packaging material with a series of folding, heat sealing or gluing procedures. It has a feeding system to save time and increase productivity.
The wrapping film is fed in and cut in the required size. The product is automatically arranged on the wrapper. The product and the paper undergo a series of folding manoeuvres and is finally sealed.
Automatic over wrappers are high-speed machines thus used in big confectionery, food and soap industries. Semi automatic machines are more suited for small production units. The pack is placed on the wrapping film and turned with the pack film. A fly knife cuts the film. Side folding and heat sealing is automatic.
Types
Semi-automatic
The machine is semi-automatic if the operator has to keep the hopper full and synchronize the end of the current batch with the addition of blank dummy product in order to carry the good product through to the exit.
Automatic
An automated machine reacts automatically to the availability of product at the input and in addition clears the product through the machine at a pause or end of a run.
