What are Thrust Bearings?
Thrust bearings are just like normal rotary bearings but these are designed to support the high axial load while providing rotation between different parts. Thrust in case of thrust bearings is the axial load. The bearings thrust are of different types like roller, ball, fluid and magnetic.

Among all the varieties roller thrust bearings and ball thrust bearings are the most common varieties that are used in various automotive applications. Ball bearings that have number of balls between two circular ring can withstand lower amount of thrust. Whereas the cylindrical roller thrust bearings can withstand high amount of load because of their cylindrical shape that provides more surface area.
Ball Thrust Bearing: This bearings thrust type is fit for the high-speed applications especially in cases where the load is relatively less.
Spherical Roller Thrust Bearings: Spherical Roller Thrust Bearings are used in applications where heavy loads is the common issue. Also in certain applications where it is difficult to establish and maintain the housing alignment.
Cylindrical Roller Thrust Bearings: Applications that have heavy loads but operate under moderate speed need cylindrical roller thrust bearings. Many bearings thrust suppliers and manufacturers of cylindrical roller thrust bearings also design this thrust that can perform even at high speed as well.
Tapered Thrust Bearings: Tapered thrust bearings have conical sections. Such a design of thrust bearings give more life and provide extra load-carrying ability.
Needle Thrust Bearings: Needle thrust bearings are so design that they transmit the loads between the two moving parts equally and reduce the friction to a great extent. These are used in construction, agricultural and automotive equipments.
Fluid Thrust Bearings: It has pressurized liquid layer for low drag.
Magnetic Bearings: Axial thrust bearings get the support from the magnetic field. It is used in case of high speed and low drag.
Miniature Thrust Bearings: Miniature Thrust Bearings has very small shaft size which ranges from from 3mm to 10mm. These are available in both stainless as well chrome steel.
