Marine Bearing

Share  |

Marine bearings are made to encounter and tolerate the toughest conditions. Bearings are normally freeze fitted using liquid nitrogen, but can be press fitted or resin choked.

The fluted rubber liner is compatible to any abrasive particles, which may come between the shaft and the bearing. Open grooved design allows the lubricating water to wash out these particles. This rubber lining compensates for shaft deflection and shock at the same time assuring smooth vibration-free shaft operation. Because they protect against shaft scoring and last longer than other bearings, they are more economical over the long run.

Different marine bearings used are
  • Water lubricated bearing with continuous longitudinal grooves provides adequate water lubrication for the shaft to prevent excessive wear and friction.
  • Two Hole Flange Bearing A heavy-duty bearing ideal for use as a thrust bearing. Self-aligning and locks securely to the shaft.
  • Flange Shaft Bearing is a flange bearing that can be used as a thrust or intermediate shaft bearing. A self-aligning type bearing that can be locked to the shaft by both a twist-lock action and set screw.

Marine bearings are used in rudders, propeller shafts steering gears, stabilizers, deck machinery, sonar bushings, doors and crane masts. In all the applications they need to be durable in the harshest of the conditions.
