Sealing Washers

Sealing washers form efficient seals that can be used in a variety of applications. Number and design of washers used influence the efficiency. The washers can be standard type and flocked type. More than one sealing washer may be used to counter greater contamination and relubrication. They may even be combined with other standard seals.

Standard sealing washers are for normal operating conditions. It comprises of a shaft and a housing washer made of sheet steel. The outer diameter of the housing washer and the shaft washer are tapered to allow other washers to fit on. They can accommodate axial forces to an extent.

Flocked sealing washers are suitable where there are dry contaminants like soil and sand. They can be used comfortably where there is a space crunch and not more than one washer can be accommodated. They may have and additional flocked washers with polyamide plasters that hardly affect the pressure on the counterface. Care should be taken that the space between the two sealing washers is filled with the rust resistant grease.
