Hose Adapter

A hose adapter is one of the important hose fittings that is used to connect two different surfaces, with complete reliability. Sometimes, as a part for the total hose fitting kit, these are sold in combination with tubing or complete adapter order (hose adapters, couplings, bushings, tees, nipples, foot valve screens, clamps, valves, unions, bulkhead fittings, etc.

To meet the different requirements and be compatible with ends of different material, hose adapters come in a number of materials. The common factor in all materials is that they are durable and strong, to prevent breakage.

Some of the popular adapter manufacturing material are:

• Glass reinforced polypropylene

Depending on the thread types, hose adapters can be of two types:

• Male Pipe Thread (MPT) Hose Adapter
• Female Pipe Thread (FPT) Hose Adapter

The specific application area is also sometimes mentioned by the manufacturer. For instance, some hose adapters are recommended for use with kink-free or vinyl tubing. On the other hand, some are specifically not used with Black Flexible PVC Hose (High-Pressure).

Most of the adapters are interchangeable with other adapters and couplings, if they are of same size but different materials. Now a days, the adapters are designed to offer complete convenience to the user and so no clamps etc are required to reattach. One just needs to twist on these adapters over the head of the fitting.
