Other Brazing Processes

Apart from some well known and widely used brazing processes there are some less known brazing methods. These brazing processes are not so popular because they are not used rapidly. The applications or the industries where these brazing methods are used are not known to the mass. These brazing techniques are:
Arc Brazing
It is a less used type of brazing. The heat required for this brazing is obtained from an electric arc. Twin carbon arc brazing is also a type of arc brazing in which the electric arc is established between two carbon electrodes.

Electron Beam Brazing
The applications of electron beam brazing is restricted to small assemblies or the encapsulating of packaged devices. The work chambers have high vacuum that allow the brazing of clean joints without the need of a flux or an atmosphere. To reduce the power density and heating effect, the electron beams are de-focused.

Flow Brazing
It is a less known brazing process. In this mechanism, a molten nonferrous metal is poured over the joint until brazing temperature is attained.

Blanket Brazing
In the process of blanket brazing, a resistance-heated blanket is placed over the parts to be joined. Ceramic dies are used generally in this process. Heat is transferred to the joining parts by conduction and radiation. This method is used mainly for brazed honeycomb fabrication.

Step Brazing
This brazing process can be used with many of the brazing processes known to us. Brazing of successive joints on an assembly is done with filler metals of successively lower melting temperatures. The joining is completed without disturbing the previously brazed joints.
