A splined shaft is similar to the keys which are integrally cut. These shafts are generally used in those application areas where we want to allow axial displacement or sliding. These shafts can transmit much more torques than compared to any other type of shaft in general. The typical application of these shafts is found in the automobile gearboxes. The spline face of this shaft is generally of two kinds, i.e., straight and involute.
