Pinion Shafts
Share |

Pinion shafts are the mechanical shafts or external input shafts of certain gear operators which control the internal reduction gearing of an equipment or machinery. The popular types of pinion shafts available at present include integral and shrunk fit pinion shafts. These shafts are quite efficient in operation and very durable in nature. These shafts are known as pinion shafts because in them the teeth of the shaft perfectly mesh with the teeth of the rack at a ninety degree (90°) angle. The pinion is connected directly to the steering column to give efficient and desired output.
