Natural Gas Properties

All matter is made from atoms with the configuration of the atom determining the kind of matter present. Individual atoms combine with other atoms to form molecules. Under normal conditions, matter exists as either a solid, a liquid or a gas. Air is a gas and in any gas large number of molecules are weakly attracted to each other and are free to move about in space.
Air is treated as a uniform gas with properties that are averaged from all the individual components. Each gas that the air is composed of consist of various different properties that adds to the overall characteristics of a particular gas. A gas does not have a fixed shape or size. Gases have certain physical and chemical properties that helps to differentiate a particular gas in the atmosphere. Depending on different properties the gases are used widely in several applications. Each gas is unique in its applications, usage and characteristic.
Physical Properties can be observed or measured without changing the composition of matter. Physical properties are used to observe and describe matter.
Chemical Properties of matter describes its "potential" to undergo some chemical change or reaction by virtue of its composition. A chemical change alters the composition of the original matter.
