
The main casting developing countries as per the worldwide census of casting production are China, USA, Japan, Russia, Germany, India, France, Italy, Mexico and Brazil. Apart from them, the other countries with annual production over one million tons comprises Korea, Spain and Taiwan, closely followed by Turkey and Canada. Large number of factories are also functioning in Poland and Ukraine.
Over last 10 years, there is a major fall in the production of castings in Great Britain. The top ten manufacturers together account for over 80% of the total fabrication of castings as well as the number of factories all across the world. Since last decade, in most of the countries, the number of foundries have lowered where as the production has raised. All over the globe, the average productivity is about 2000 tonnes per year. The highest productivity is found to be of German foundries that is an average of 6800 tonnes per year.
