Extruded Profiles in Power Generation Industry

Electrical & Lighting Industry
Extruded profiles are quite popular in the sphere of electrical and lighting industry. Extruded profiles in aluminium, copper, plastics and rubber are a common feature in this application. These are discussed in the following sections:
Aluminium extruded profile
Aluminum profiles offers several core advantages that makes it a popular selection as a material for electrical items. Though aluminium's volume thermal conductivity is less as compared to copper. The extrudability of aluminum allows versatility in the design of aluminum profiles. Configurations well suited for heat dissipation are produced quite economically. Extruded sections are also color anodized to increase the emission capacity of the radiating surfaces.
An enormous range of lighting equipment uses extruded aluminium sections for various types of lighting. The following example is of a suspended up and down-light aluminium extruded luminaire designed for tubes.
Another popular application of the aluminum profiles is in the electric motors whose body is made up of the extruded aluminium sections.
Co-extruded copper/aluminium busbar, wire and rod are used in high-and low-current electrical distribution systems. Busbars can come in the forms like Flatbars, U-channel shape and Tubular Busbars.
Aluminium profiles which are impact extruded can also be used for a number of crucial electrical parts. These include housings for capacitors, signal devices, relays and smoke charges/pots and ignition sleeves.
Extruded Copper Profile
Copper profiles used in the electrical industry includes switchgear, connectors, electrical motor components and power-generating equipment.
Plastic profiles
Rigid and flexible profiles made of extruded plastic are regular feature in many applications involving the electrical industries. Some of the very familiar products include insulators, tube light frames, Casing-Cappings etc. ABS, LDPE, Polystyrene, Thermoplastic Olefin (TPO) PP blended with EPDM. Are some of the popular plastic material in making profiles for the electrical industry.
Plastic Profiles for Electrical Industry
Following are some of the popular examples:
-
Crane Section; used in Conductors. (CONDUCTOR BARS)
-
Tube light Sections
-
Shroud, having use as insulator
-
Bus Bar Sleeves used as phase dividers
-
Trac Lighting Profile
What's new in the electrical industry?
A relatively new development in the electrical industry sector is the form of high performance extruded cable conduits, which are proving to be very popular. |
