Extruded Profiles: Industry Products Made Of Extruded Profiles

Share  |

We see the usage of extruded profiles in a number materials in a variety of forms. Some of the popular forms in which the extruded profiles are produced are described and explained below. These are basically different form and shapes that come in very handy in producing a lot of industry and consumer products. A common man might not be aware of places where these profiles are being used. But they are used in a number of everyday things that we deal in and work with.

Pipes
Extruded profiles in the form of pipes are produced in a variety of materials, shapes sizes and designs. Aluminium, plastic, rubber and a lot of other materials are extruded into pipes for industrial usages. Apart from the basic metal that is extruded, other materials are also added to them to derive different and more complex designs and shapes that are rigid, hollow, twisted, double tubed, etc. Industries like plumbing, mining and gas transmission lines are heavy applicants if extruded pipes.

Sheets
As the name suggest, when the metal is extruded in a flat, thin form it is usable as an extruded sheet. Primarily the extruded sheets are used for construction purposes in the building industry. Lot of different materials like plastic, rubber, aluminium, steel, brass, copper etc - can be used for producing extruded sheets depending on the nature of application of the final product. Extruded plastic sheets are quite heavily used owing to their hardness, strength, toughness, heat resistance and light weight. They find applications in pick up truck beds, passenger compartment mattings in the transportation industry, outdoor display signages etc.

Seals
Extruded seals are used to block liquid or gases from leaking out of a defined premise which is usually a container, chamber or an assembly. Seals are essentially of elastic nature and are therefore made out of rubber or plastic materials that allow stretchability and flexibility in the seals. Extruded seals find applications in housing industry, where they are used in the door and window seals. Since they are corrosion resistant and chemical resistant their weatherability also increases. Apart from doors and windows they are also used for glazing and metal works.

Channels
Extruded channels also witness a variety of industrial applications and uses. Aluminium is the most popular material used for extruding channels as most of the usages require them to be made out of aluminium for its advantageous properties like structural rigidity and deformation resistance. Some of the extensive and important applications of the extruded channels are as frames of storage devices, side rails in step ladders and railway window frames from the inside.

Frames
Frames again are everyday use extruded profiles. Usually manufactured out of plastic and aluminium, they find maximum of their usage in the aluminium frame form. Extensive use of aluminium frames is found in the building industry for window screens, doors, movable walls, office bays, ceiling panels, floor panels, etc. In automotive industry, aluminium profiles are majorly used for design and style purposes taking the look quotient to new levels altogether. Apart from these two, it is also used in the electronics and advertising industry.
