Cooking Pots
An application of brazing in the food industry is the cooking pots. The cooking pots made of stainless steel are provided with an aluminum compensating base for uniform heating. The base part is brazed with the stainless steel part. Brazing provides leak proof, clean and smoother joints.
Brazing Process
The most suitable brazing process for the cooking pots is induction brazing. Other useful processes are flame brazing and furnace brazing.
Brazing Alloys
Aluminum based brazing alloys are used for brazing the base of cooking pots. The constituent elements are :
- Major Constituents: Aluminum and Silicon
- Other Constituents: Iron, Copper, Manganese, Magnesium, Zinc, Titanium
- These type of alloys are good for brazing of aluminum and low alloyed aluminum alloys. It is also good for brazing aluminum to stainless steel. It is also applied in brazing of sandwich bottoms, heating elements and radiators.
