Constant-deceleration Shock Absorbers

If the machine is using well fabricated stops, it means that machine will function more quickly and results in good production. Brakes and electronics are used constantly for deceleration. But it is a long process and their effectiveness is also not upto the mark. In such a situation, using a simple shock absorber can be a good option. Conventional shock absorber however can direct shock back into machines. It operates in such a way that it stops machinery, but with huge initial deceleration.

However now many manufacturers are relying on shock absorbers that decelerates components at a constant rate for a controlled halt. It functions in a simple way. Oil in the chamber moves out as soon as it stuck with an object. The oil engulf the spiraling channels of the piston. Very soon the oil squeeze through the narrow ends and finally get collected in an exhaust chamber. Whole operation is balanced and lowers the initial deceleration.

Kinetic energy of any object is directly proportional to its velocity. Therefore, free-falling vertical components can prove determental to shocks because the force may break down the oil, causing vibrations within the shock absorber that shorten useful life. This is more phenomenal in traditional shock absorber.

The spiral shock absorber (Constant-deceleration shock absorber) results in smoothening the damping. Between the piston and tube a uniform, hydrostatic slide bearing is formed, thereby keeping mechanical strain on the oil low. The sliding film, separates the moving elements symmetrically this increases the operating life of the shock. The groove reduces the power of the brake, with quick damping cycles produced over short strokes.

This shock absorber is also called as the PowerStop. It is highly efficient as it has the capability to absorb up to 300% more energy than a traditional shock. Due to this feature, spiral shock absorber is suitable where space constraints are an issue.
