About Fine Bubble Diffuser – Its Importance in Wastewater Treatment

Size of the bubble plays very important role in the working of a diffuser as the fine bubble diffusion process consumes most of the energy that is consumed in the entire process. By increasing the oxygen transfer efficiency, the overall efficiency of treating the wastewater can be increased. But whether to use the bubble having ultra small size is still debatable as the small sized bubble takes too long to reach at the surface and thus proper aeration of the wastewater cannot take place. Bubble having the diameter of 0.9 mm is the most useful.

 

The settlement of the fine bubble diffuser is done on the floor of the tank in a grid arrangement. In this arrangement different zones according to the requirement of the oxygen can be created. The zones that can be created are:

 

The requirement of the shape depends upon the type of system you are going to use. In case of retrievable system tube diffusers are used and in case of fixed system disc diffuser for fine bubble aeration is used.

 

Do not use the panel diffuser in deeper tank as the efficiency will be hampered. In shallow system you can use the panel diffuser but the cost of installing this system is high.

 

So consider the type of water treatment tank to buy the fine bubble diffuser and make sure that you buy only PTFE coated membrane diffusers as these stay longer than any other kind of fine bubble diffusers.
