Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association

Wright- Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association is a not for profit association which was established in1937. Since it is member owned, it is devoted to improving the quality of life of its members and making available dependable & friendly service at a reasonable cost. It presents energy efficiency programs, time-saving payment methods (online, over the phone or in person) and renewable energy alternatives for its members.

 

This association is an electric utility association which is controlled by Board of Directors. These Board of Directors are elected by the members of the association. It serves more than 45000 electric accounts. Energy saving, off peak programs are presented by Wright Hennepin to its members to save their money on heating, cooling and water heating bills. Wright Hennepin is committed to serving the community and it contributes each year thousands of dollars to local charities and causes.

Membership
Wright Hennepin works under seven guiding principles namely voluntary and open membership, democratic member control, members economic participation, autonomy and independence, education, training and information, cooperation among cooperatives, concern for community.

Its members are voluntary organizations who are willing to accept all the responsibilities of a member without gender, social, racial, political, religious or any other type of discrimination. Its cooperatives are autonomous, self-help organizations controlled by their members. Members are given equal right to contribute and freely control the capital of their cooperative.
