Types of Automotive Fuse
Automotive fuse is used for the protection of wires and electrical equipments. Automotive fuse is commonly used as an electrical equipment in vehicles and rarely it is used as non automotive item.
Automotive fuse is a very small but essential component of the automobile that fuses when something goes wrong in the vehicle. Whenever the automotive fuse blows out it stops the proper functioning of the vehicle. So if there is any problem in your vehicle the first place to look is the automotive fuse box.
Types of Automotive Fuse
The most common types of automotive fuses are:
Glass Fuse - it is the cylinder-shaped automotive fuse that has stainless steel ends and glass in the middle.
Plastic Housing Automotive Fuse - it is the another type of automotive fuse that has a plastic body and a fusible link encased in that body. The automotive fuse box is generally found behind a cover, which is under the dashboard, or below the steering wheel.
Then there are other types of automotive fuses. These are:
Blade Type Automotive Fuse
It is also known as spade or plug-in fuses. Blade type automotive fuse consists of a two prongs and has a plastic body. The prongs fit directly into socket. There are four dimensions of blade type automotive fuses with printed Rated Current in Ampere. These dimensions are:
- Low-profile mini (APS)
- Mini (APM / ATM)
- Regular (APR/ATC/ATO) and
- Maxi (APX) heavy-duty
Bosch Type Automotive Fuse
It is also known as torpedo or ATS type fuses. Bosch Type Automotive Fuse is typically used in old automobiles. It consists of a conical end and has a physical dimension of 6x25 mm.
Lucas Type Automotive Fuse
Lucas Type Automotive Fuse is used in old British made automobiles and has length 1 inch or 1.25 inch.
Glass Type Automotive Fuse
Glass Type Automotive Fuse is generally used in American cars and automobiles.
