These are basically stand-alone, battery operated locks. However, there is also an option for key operation in case of emergency or failure of batteries. One can set his combination at any time on the clock provided with the lock. Electronic door locks are ultimate money savers and hassle-free locksets compared to other lock systems.

Most of these locks are designed as per the new Piezo Technology that represents a major advancement in controlling entry door access. These door locks have outstanding battery life and allow code free entry either mechanically by key or electronically from keypad.

Working Mechanism

These locks work on a simple mechanism. Outside knob turns freely without operating the latch bolt. There is an option for entering a code and when valid code is entered and blue light burns, the knob retracts the latchbolt. When the door is being closed, the spring latch automatically locks the door. The key may be used to set the lock into Code Free mode so that anyone can open the door without using a code. Code Free mode can also be programmed at the keypad using the Master Code.

Of course, there are some heavy duty electronic keyless lock that comes with an added advantage of full size lever handles. The handle allows it to be used as the primary lock on doors where a knob operated lock would not be suitable.

Most of the electronic locks are always locked on the outer side and unlocked from inside. When the door closes it also gets locked. These locks open on both sides and close on both sides. Because of this reason, electronic and push button locks are not fit for fire exit doors.

Push Button Lock

Push button locks are simplest to install and is suitable for both front and rear doors. The lock is basically has a lever hand can be changed in seconds. These locks are perfect for wood or metal doors. They have cylindrical locksets, backset, covers and power lever installations. There is no need for a clutch mechanism. There is a fully independent lever and there is very less chances of damage or abuse.

Push button door locks are available in both manual electronic versions. This type of lock also comes with a special restricted type cylinder for added security and keys for key back-up.
