Fireplace inserts are basically used to enhance the operation and appearance of an existing burning fireplace. The purpose of using a fireplace insert is to place some form of heating unit within an existing fireplace that may or may not be currently operational. Fireplace inserts are stoves that are inserted into the fireplace. They have different designs for different functions and are comprised of a gas log set that is encased in a cast iron or steel exchanger. They often have built-in fans to move heat and to heat the room effectively. The fireplace inserts are also designed with remote controls or a wall switch for convenience. Types of Fireplace Inserts
The Direct Vent that refers to system with sealed combustion. This helps heat the homes in an efficient manner while maintaining the quality of indoor air. It takes negative air pressure and combustion air brought in from the outside and eliminates heat loss that is often a problem with typical chimneys.
The Natural Vent uses either a masonry chimney or pre-fabricated metal chimney. This helps the air from the room is used for combustion and exhausts the air going to the outside of the house by using a flexible liner installed within the chimney.
