Bidet has its root in France that means a small horse or pony. Bidet consisted of a simple encased receptacle to hold water and a wooden stool that was used for the support of the bidet. Bidet is actually a bathroom fixture that is low mounted and especially installed to wash genitalia, inner buttocks, and anus.

 

Bidets were first of all used by French Cavaliers and it was designed to wash their those parts of body which were close to the saddle as they were having less time to take bath daily. Bidet now is common to see in southern European countries like Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal etc. Almost every home in Arab has the bidet and also in some parts of Africa and America bidet in bathroom can be seen. American are bit reluctant in using toilet bidet.
