The electrical parts of a two wheeler starts the engine, controls the right amount of energy required to run the engine and switch off the engine.

The different automotive electrical parts are:
  • Alternator: It converts mechanical energy to alternating current electrical energy. It keeps the battery charged.
  • Armature: An armature is part of an electrical device which includes many current-carrying windings. It is a hollow cylinder, with coils of wire on its walls. It is the stationary part of the electrical device and also known as a stator or Pole Core.
  • Commutators: It is an electrical switch which periodically reverses the current in an electric motor or electrical generator. It maintains magnetic polarities required to keep the shafts of the motors turning.
  • Electrical Cables: They connect switches, wires, lights, electric motors, sensors, computers and plugs. They are also known as Ignition cable.
  • Flasher: It is like a special type of switch which can turn on or off a metal strip.
  • Ignition Coil: It transforms a battery voltage to high ignition voltage needed to spark the spark plugs. It is also called a spark coil.
  • Ignition Lock: Ignition lock is a restraint incorporated into the ignition switch to prevent the use of a vehicle by persons who do not have the key.
  • Ignition Switch: It is the place where a vehicle's electrical circuits got activated and start the vehicle.
  • Rectifier / Regulator: It converts AC into regulated DC and supply the required load to keep the voltage within specified limits.
  • Solenoid: It is a loop of wire wrapped around a metallic core. It supplies the required current to run the starter motor of an engine.
  • Spark Plug: It is shaped like a small cylinder, ignites the air-fuel mixture and transfer heat from the combustion chamber. This process turns fuel into working energy.
  • Spark Plug Socket: It is a socket with rubber inside to grab onto the terminal and hold the plug inside of the socket.
  • Starter Relay: Starter relay is of two types: Electromechanical and Solid State Relay. It detects and isolate faults on transmission and distribution lines.
