What features and fabrics should I look for?

When choosing table linens keep your room decor and dinnerware in mind. You should coordinate your place settings and linens with the design of the room. You can complement your tablecloth by purchasing matching placemats, runners and napkins. The placemats or table mats can be used without the tablecloth for casual dining. For a decorative accent, a table runner adds a more formal look. Make sure your tablecloth or table cover stays in place by using it in conjunction with a table pad, which will also protect your table from moderate heat.

Always read the directions given on any table linen, be it the tablecloth, napkin or placemat before cleaning or treating any stains. Treat stains as quickly as possible and launder or dry clean immediately.
