How to Buy Wedding Shawls & Wraps

Share  |

Wedding is special and so are all wedding dresses including the wedding shawls! However, if not selected with proper thoughts, bridal shawls and wraps can do either of two things- these shawl wraps can look so gorgeous that they will make your wedding dress look dull or they themselves can look so dull that your beautiful wedding dress will loose all its charm! Whatever happens, the end result will be a very ordinary looking wedding dress in spite of buying expensive bridal shawls! So, be prepared and give more than one thought before you buy wedding shawls. You have many options in fabric as well as colors and size of bridal shawls so just don't buy silk shawls only for your wedding. Here we give you some tips on how to buy wedding shawls that will make you feel cozy and gorgeous on your so very special day of life!

Consider fabric when you buy wedding shawls!
Obvious thing to say- no one will buy an ordinary shawl for a grand occasion like wedding but my point is a different one. You may buy organza shawls or silk shawls but always keep in mind the weather before making any decision about fabric of shawl wraps as well as the fabric of your wedding dress. If, for example, your dress is made of satin and its a winter wedding, you definitely would not buy organza shawl. A silk shawl or a satin shawl for that matter will be a more wiser decision. On the other hand, if yours is a summer wedding and you have your dress made from chiffon or Georgette, you should buy chiffon shawls for wedding.

Buy wedding shawl with perfect color!
Perfect color doesn't mean matching color. Don't try to match your dress color exactly with your wedding shawl. If done so, the shawl will obscure the lines of your gown and guess what? Your wedding photographs too will look disastrous. Also, it is tough to get an exact match of any color. It is better to buy wedding shawls that have a modest contrast. For example, a beige or cornflower color shawl will go well with an ivory dress. As far as the question of getting such colors is concerned, there are ample scope of finding a wide variety of colors in all types of shawls including chiffon shawls, organza or silk shawls!

Buy appropriate size and blend of wedding shawls
To be comfortable during the whole day, its better to buy full size shawls. Petite brides can buy a medium shawl. The so-called medium shawls are mostly of same length as full size shawls, just a bit narrower. If you decide to buy Pashmina shawls as your wedding wraps, you must also consider their blend. The 70/30 pashmina-silk blend (70% pashmina, 30% silk shawls) is most popular because of its additional strength and the elegant drape (so desirable in bridal shawls!) though they are a bit costlier. Pashmina-silk blends in wedding shawls can also be embroidered for making them more graceful unlike the 100% Pashmina shawls.

Wedding shawls patterns - personal choice preferred here!
As far as wedding shawl patterns are concerned, it entirely depends upon your personal taste and also on your wedding dress style. Beaded fringes, full-surface embroidery, fancy wedding shawls with beaded or sequined accents can match your floral theme. Pashmina as well as Jamawar Shawls have exquisite patterns for wedding occasions. If you want a regal but not very gaudy touch, you can even buy shawls with gold-thread borders on ivory or cream or whatever color might complement the bride's maids dresses.
