Embroidery is a creative work and by using creativity, anyone can produce wonderful embroidery designs. Important Considerations
1- Ground material(fabric & thread), on which the entire embroidery work depends should be of high quality. If the ground material is of poor quality, it will not hold the stitches properly and hence the outcome will also be untidy.
2- All necessary embroidery equipment should be present before you before beginning with embroidery. Embroidery hoops, frames, needles of different size, thimbles, sharp scissors, good quality embroidery threads are important tools that are required for working embroidery.

Secrets Of Embroidery Disclosed
Embroidery secrets cannot be told better by anyone than Mrs. L. Barton Wilson, Former Needlework Editor of the Ladies' Home Journal and Special Contributor to Modem Priscilla, prior 1889. Some of the secrets shared by Mrs. Barton in Lesson in Embroidery and published in 1889 by Brainerd and Armstrong are described below.
  • The first principle and most important secret of embroidery is 'framing'. Framing depends upon the nature of the fabric. The fabric should be of good quality so that the embroidery is smooth and equal. If the fabric itself is not smooth, the stitches will also be loose. The area which is to be embroidered should be stretched. For stretching the fabric, the use of embroidery tools is necessary.
  • The use of proper tools such as hoops, frames will result in full and solid embroidery. A table, about thirty inches high and a chair lower than the table is another basic necessity when using embroidery frames for working embroidery. High table and low chair will facilitate the worker to sit straight and hence work for hours. A person sitting in cramped position can never create even and broad embroidery.
  • It is very hard and almost impossible to get the speed and stitches of frame embroidery right in the first attempt, especially if you are a beginner. So practice inserting the needle up and down in a separate piece of cloth. With continuous and regular practice, automatically speed will come.
  • Embroidery hoop should be kept horizontal and held firmly by clamps. Holding hoop in one hand working embroidery with other hand should be avoided.
