• Before starting of with arranging table linen one needs to identify certain things like:
• Seating arrangement, because the number of seats gives the exact number of table mats and napkins required.
• Table shape and size, because the shape of the table will tell what size and shape of the table cloth is required. An oval cloth may work on a round and oval shape but not on a rectangular table. The size of the table cloth should be longer than the size of the table.
• Meal Time, this would refer the use of tea cozy and tea mats during tea time.
• Surroundings, the surrounding decides the color of the table cloth and other requirements.

• Table cloths are evenly placed on the table and a beautiful and elegant table skirting is provided for buffets or parties.
• Table mats of contrasting color or the same colors are placed in front of each seat on the table.
• Table mats are usually printed if the table cloth is plain and vice versa.
• On the sides of each table mat are placed beautifully folded napkins. They are folded in various styles to enhance the look of the table and make the table look more inviting.

• Take a table cloth of the color matching the walls of the dining room.
• Place matching table mats on them depending on the number of persons present.
• On the left of the mat place napkins folded in various styles.
• No skirting is required for arranging a table at home.
