Romanian Couching

Romanian stitching gives great outcome in the form of beautiful textures and patterns,because it is very simple to learn. Romanian couching is an advanced method of Romanian stitch. It results in interesting effects and inspiring variations. Just like the bokhara couching stitch,single thread and needle is used in this stitch also. This characteristic makes it avoidable for curvy and intricate designs.

This form of couching is useful for filling in large spaces in which a flat un-textured background is required. This stitch can better be defined as a filling stitch because long and short lines of stitches work well with this stitch. Soft curves can appear if the first straight is left loose. To work this stitch, make a long stitch covering the length of the pattern and bring the needle out to the left of the thread. Now make a small stitch over the long thread inserting the thread on the right and bringing out again on the left , keeping the thread above the needle. The process continues till you reach end of the long stitch using these smaller stitched fastening the long one.

It is a versatile and extremely easy stitch. Basically, two threads and needles are used in couching,but it in this couching stitch single thread work does a great job,which makes it as simple as any other stitch.
