Patchwork embroidery is a famous needlework technique, which involves sewing small pieces of fabric together, into a large finished piece. Patchwork fabric results in the creation of some wonderful products like handbags, quilts, bedsheets etc. Some cute and funky patchworks are used for making blankets and clothes for kids. In ancient times, patchwork patterns were created to utilize old scraps of fabric, but now they are in huge demand because of their attractiveness and uniqueness.

 

Patchwork has gained popularity because of being the sole method of recycling worn clothing into warm quilts. Traditionally, patchwork designs were sewn together by hand, but with the change in technology and to cash on the benefits of mass production, it is increasingly being machine sewn. Embroiderers sometimes make beautiful patches by combining the machine sewn patches with hand made beading, ribbons and French knots for a distinct look.
