Freestyle Cross Stitch

This stitch is worked in the same way as the regular cross stitch.  Needle is brought through the right line which is below the cross and inserted on the left side in upward direction which results in another stitch on the lower line. While working this stitch, it must be noted that legs of the crosses should not cross at right angles. They should not be of even length. Care should be taken that the upper half of the cross is in the same direction.

 

It is used as a filler stitch to give a accent to the filling specially in landscaping. Freestyle hand embroidery designs are very impressive and enhance the beauty of any fabric. This is an extremely easy stitch which can be mastered easily. Lovely designs and patterns can be created on Aida fabric. This fabric is regarded best for beginners. It is one of the most enjoyable and creative stitch. Freestyle embroidery looks elegant on cotton and linen fabrics also.

Simple designs can be worked using a  machine also. This stitch can be further decorated by using beads and shisha. Embroidery patterns and designs can be repeated but they look fabulous and unique in spite of being repeated.
