Embroidery Hoops

Embroidery hoops are circular concentric rings that are used to keep the fabric tight while doing embroidery or any other stitching work. These concentric rings hold a metallic tightening device attached to the larger ring. These hoops are an important tool of artisans while they are working on a large piece of fabric. These days plastic or wooden embroidery hoops are available but originally hoops were created out of wood, bone or ivory. They keep both the hands of workers free and thereby help in increasing the speed.

 

Distortion of fabric might cause damage to the whole embroidery design. So these hoops are highly preferred by most of the people because they help in keeping the fabric at place. A beautiful design can be created if the fabric stays stable. Plastic or spring tension hoops can grab the fabric better, as compared to wooden hoops.

Embroidery hoop is easily available in a variety of sizes but generally it is a small ring, so that it can be easily controlled with one hand. Usually thin embroidery hoops are used in embroidery machines. These are easy to use and most suitable for fabrics like linen, Aida or any other common fabric used for weaving. Beautiful designs of embroidery can also be created with the help of embroidery kits along with the hoops.

Mostly embroidery sewing machines hoops attached with them. Attaching the fabric to embroidery machine hoop is known as hooping. The must simple way of hooping is that, the hoop must act as your presser foot while the design is being stitched. It avoids the movement of fabric so that the design is stitched correctly.
