How to work this stitch
Bullion knots stitches are worked by stitching a back stitch according to the length of the bullion knot required. Needle is to be inserted back to the initial inserting point but it must not be brought out completely. In the next step working thread should be twisted around the needle to equal the length of the back stitch. Needle should be turned back to the point from where it was originally inserted. Pull the thread when the bullion knot is tied. It is a detached stitch that gives a raised effect.

Two or three contrasting color threads can be used, by threading them in a single needle,to give interesting effects. Knots of bullion stitch when wrapped with detached chain stitch can be used to give a decorative effect in crazy quilting,by working with a dyed silk thread. This stitch provides an enhanced effect to any embroidery design or texture. Simple or floral motifs can be projected really well with bullion knots.
