Ahir tribes are found in Kutch - majorly Bhuj, Anjar and Mandvi talukas. Ahir embroidery work is alike mochi or aari embroidery. The Hindu Ahir's normally embroider bags (Kothries), wall hangings or Chaklas. On every side of the doorway are embroidered strips called Sankias or Barsankias.
 
These embroided strips are used for decorating either side of the doorway with a Toran hanging above it. Limited stitches with glittering patch of mirror appear really attractive. The simplicity of embroidery patterns of ahir embroidery enriches the flavor of any garment or other home decor accessory.

Patterns and Stitches
Ahir bharat embroidery is of a flowing style,which uses patterns like peacocks, parrots, scorpions, elephants and flowers. This embroidery style seems to be inspired by flora and fauna. The designs of  this embroidery styles are drawn by hand and are shifted onto the cloth using a stencil. Sets of embroided clothing lavishly decorated with Shisha or mirror work forming an important part of their ceremonial clothing.

The outmost stitch is similar to the thorn of a babool tree and hence it is called 'kanta'. Detailing stitch is known as 'bakhiya' and stitch used for filling gaps is known as ''dana'. Herringbone stitch known as 'vana' is used for filling in gaps created by chain stitch called as 'sankali'. Mirrors, called 'abhla' are also often applied. Tear drop shape is usually used in different patterns.
