Catnip

Catnip is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Europe, Asia and Africa. The herb is also known as Catmint, is a perennial herb belonging to the mint family. While most of the herbs are perennial, some are annual. These herbs are used for its medicinal properties. Catnips are named after and mainly known for certain effects on cats.

1.Culinary Use
The leaves are used for food flavoring and aroma.

 

2.Medicinal Use
Herbal tea, made using catnip can be a cure for nervousness, influenza, cold and fevers. It is also used for curing flatulence, colic, diarrhea and preventing miscarriages and pre mature births. The herb is also helpful in curing insomnia, stress, menstrual cramps, and intestinal discomfort. The herb is used as a relaxant, sedative and antispasmodic in herbal remedy.
